For holidays or investment, home is still better than away

Despite claims the British property market is in the doldrums buying holiday or investment properties in this country looks set to continue to be the trend in 2018.

Investors are cautious about buying in Europe following the Brexit vote, according to our co-owner Chris Hall.

Chris, who runs our exclusive community of luxury holiday homes, beach cottages and surf lodges with his wife, Mary and their two children, Amy and Alex, explains: “We’re getting more interest in our properties already this year and have seen an increase in enquiries compared to the same time last year, so it seems for the moment that Brexit has had a positive impact on businesses like ours.

“A lot of the people who are coming to us have been put off buying in Europe because they are concerned about the ramifications of leaving the EU and other things like the recent civil unrest in Spain, which made for a dramatic year on the continent in 2017. People are naturally very wary this year too especially as Britain’s role in the EU still remains very uncertain.”

We’re fronted by a two-mile sandy beach and have stunning panoramic coastal views across Bideford Bay to Lundy Island.

Chris continues: “Golden Bay is first and foremost a beautiful holiday village and it commands one of the most picturesque sea front positions imaginable. Those that come here have a passion for the area and a love for the scenery, which is paramount.”

We offer a variety of self-catering holiday homes to suit every budget, from standard accommodation to luxury two-storey homes looking out to sea and provide the perfect base for a short break or family holiday.

Visitors here can also enjoy direct access to a Blue Flag beach and are close to the South West Coastal Path, historic places of interest and to various wildlife and birdwatching spots.

Westward Ho’s shops and eateries are a short stroll away from us and we’re centrally located for many north Devon family attractions and places of interest.

We also sell properties to individuals and operate a ‘buy-to-let’ scheme.

Chris continues: “We provide the perfect hideaway for those wanting a quiet second home or a holiday bolthole and, unlike other similar sites, we offer some properties for a 12-month season, enabling owners to use their holiday home whenever they wish.”

Buy-to-let purchasers can also enjoy a return on their properties and our owners can have regular holidays on site too.

Our new development, Lighthouse View, has been built specifically for the holiday buy-to-let market and all-year-round use. Each of the spacious, modern properties has three bedrooms and offers a 999-year lease.

Chris adds: “We offer a second to none letting service, both for our own properties and for those owners who wish to let their holiday homes with as little input as possible, so laundry and cleaning are all taken care of, along with advertising, bookings, pre-heating the properties and generally making sure that every stay with us represents the best experience possible.”
